DIY T-Shirt Quilt

“There is no such thing as waste, just stuff in the wrong place”
~ Anonymous
In the true fashion of Nifty Thrifty, I decided to take a chance and try something new. My friend had a lot of volunteer shirts and didn't know what to do with them. Rather than throwing them away or donating them, I thought it would be a great idea to turn something old into something new and make a memorable quilt.

Below is step by step instructions on how to make your own. If you're not into crafts but would still like one made send me a message to discuss pricing and how to send your shirts.

"I Like My Money Right Where I Can See It…Hanging In My Closet."

Carrie Bradshaw
Carrie, you couldn't be more wrong and, I'm guessing, for you feel the same. If you don't mind I like to reword that quote to read...
"I Like My Money Right Where I Can See It.... In My Savings or Checking"

Thrifting allows me to save on my must haves. Today's DIY UpCycled project, I took a dress and restructured into pants.

Fall Into Fashion & Comfort

"Women's fashion is a subtle form of bondage. It's men's way of binding them. We put them in these tight, high-heeled shoes, we make them wear these tight clothes and we say they look sexy. But they're actually tied up"

 David Duchovny

To often then not, I find myself dressing for the opposite sex. However, when that happens, I have to "check" myself.
Some women are comfortable in high heels and tight clothing and  nothing is wrong with that fashion trend... I do it at times, but, if I had it my way, I'd dressed the way I feel everyday. I  tend to dress comfortable without neglecting fashion!!

With that being typed, today's featured thriftable/DIY look is inspired by the word COMFORT.

The Before...

This $6.95 dress was a size 2XL. I choose this shirt for two reasons, the size and the pattern.
The original plan was to make some shorts, but after much deliberation, I decided to make some pants instead. After, inverting this dress #literally... Using the sleeves for the pant lets and a few alternations, the below image became a reality.

The After...

DIY UPCYCLED BLAZER

“Creativity Is Allowing Yourself To Make Mistakes. Art Is Knowing Which Ones To Keep.” ~ Scott Adams

I've always wanted a jacket with leather sleeves. So of course NIFTY THRIFTY found a way to make that happen.
Last weekend, I hit the ground running and went thrifting in Memphis. I snagged two blazers (among other items) at Goodwill for $4.99 a piece which means this jacket cost a grand total of $9.00!

Usually, I wouldn't share my DIY project secrets (obvious lie hence this blog) but  I love you, loyal viewer!
I'll walk you through this DIY step by step... Just Click Below
