Classy in coral

Yes, we all know spring slowly, but surely crept it’s way in, but it’s definitely worth the blue skies and just-right weather. It’s official we can finally toss our winter clothes into storage, and start anew with a pop of color that’s been begging to be in our wardrobe. This season it’s coral. That beautiful shade that falls between pink and red orange, with the occasional hint of orange. Not only is this color eye catching to see in an outfit, but it compliments essentially every skin tone by giving the illusion of a sun kissed radiance. If you haven’t checked out our article about pastels or embellishments, just know that coral is the best color to combine with soft colors and shiny décor due to its festive luminosity. As a hue that comes in many shades from pastel to florescent, coral it gives ample room to play around and explore different color combinations.

Thrift tip: Since most thrift stores are organized by color, finding what you need isn’t hard to do. With a little patience and a keen eye, finding your perfect spring to summer shade of coral is only a few bucks away.

Harem Happy

It’s often hard to think of slouchy pants as any use besides lounging around the house or running to the store when you realize that you’re out of bread, Lately, Harem pants have been all the buzz, puzzling everyone’s mind with the question: “Can I pull that off?” The answer is yes, the possibilities are endless. Harem pants are becoming a staple in everyone’s closet, men and women alike.  Originally nicknamed “MC Hammer pants” because of the drop crotch and tapered calf and ankles, they've evolved to so much more beyond the whimsical pants they've originated from. Not only are they super comfortable, but the amount of versatility in harem pants are infinite, being found in every color, pattern, and texture imaginable. Harem pants can be worn in any style from edgy leather to feminine floral, which makes a variety of harem pants for every occasion, whether you’re out on a coffee date with friends, in the office, running errands, or at a black tie event. Yes I said it, even a black tie event. These free flowing pants are awesome when it comes to making a statement without looking like you’re trying too hard. Designers have found it hard to make something similar to a sweatpant look fashionable, but thanks to labels such as Catherine Malandrino, Gucci, Balmain, and Alexander Wang, there’s a way to look effortless without looking like you didn't look once at the mirror.

Harem pants are one of the few trends that break the rules of contrast in fashion. All because they’re loose in fit, doesn’t always mean something fitted has to be worn on top, experiment rocking your harem pants with cardigans, blazers, crop tops, and even mixing patterns. Rocking harem pants mean you rarely have to debate on what shoe to wear with them, they look great with sneakers, flats, or your favorite pumps.

Thrift Tip: Although harem pants aren't too expensive to get a hold of, you can find similar pants at your local thrift store begging to be made into a pair of harem pants. Whether they already have the harem fit or could use a slight DIY tapering at the bottom around the calf and ankle which gives an amazing opportunity to play with silhouettes.

1. Pocket-Friendly prices
Thrift stores are the best place for anyone to save a buck and stay in style at the same time. The frugal, penny-pinchers, college students, moms, fashionistas, the those on budgets, and the vintage mogul all flock to thrift shops. Why? Because you can find an amazing ensemble that won’t hurt your wallet.

2. "What Comes Around Goes Around"
This cliché isn’t just talking about karma. When it comes to fashion there is nothing new under the sun. When something seems to go out of style it’s almost a guarantee that it’ll come back within the next 15 years. This includes high-waisted shorts, crop tops, combat boots, and cat-eye sunglasses. With this being said, you can always stay ahead of these trends by being the first to pick up the next thing big fashion trend.

3. It's easy to find what you're looking for.
Most thrift stores or organized and easy to find what you need. Whether it be for color, clothing items, or accessories. That just makes your thrifting experience that much better, especially when you go in with an idea of exactly what you want.

4. You'll stand out with an original piece
We all want to look great in what we have, but looking like a clone of everyone else doesn’t make a bold statement. Shopping at your local thrift shop allows you to find pieces none of your friends have. There’s a very unlikely chance that when you buy a cute vintage piece that anyone will say “I have the same one!”

5. The "Hunt"
Thrifters know the amazing feeling of finding a diamond in the rough while thrifting. You’re shuffling through dozens of items that aren't very appealing, then WOW! Something amazing catches your eye. Whether it’s the pattern, silhouette, or something that you've been looking for a very long time. Finding just what your wardrobe needs makes it all worthwhile.

6. No two thrift stores are the same
Every thrift store is different because different people give away different things. The beauty is that is that if you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for in one thrift store, you may just find it in the next.

7. Spotting brand new items

With a little searching, you can find items that have never been worn, or with the tags still on them. What’s better than getting brand new things for more than half the price?

8. Finding name brand clothes

Where else could you find Prada, Kenneth Cole, Calvin Klein, Versace and other well-known brands for the lowest price available? Thrift stores are a gift to the fashion at heart, allowing you to buy name brand clothing for a tiny fraction of the price.  Buyer’s remorse on those $500 shoes is a thing of the past.

9. Playing dress up
Thrift stores are extremely fun to try out hundreds of looks. It’s easy to say you can spend a whole day at the thrift store just trying on clothes. If you, or your friends are goofy and open minded to different styles, the local thrift store dressing room is the perfect place to spend your Saturday. See who can try on the cutest hats, the best 80’s look, or find the perfect sundress. I guarantee you’ll have great laughs and leave out with the best outfits.

10. More than just clothes
Who said thrift stores are only for clothes? Thrifts stores have some of the most amazing original accessories such as belts, hats, scarfs, jewelry, shoes, and furniture. Yes, I mentioned furniture. If you’re into DIY remodeling thrift stores are your best friend. You can always find a good sturdy bed frame, bookshelf, dresser or night stand to personalize with your own finishing touches.
