"I Like My Money Right Where I Can See It…Hanging In My Closet."
--
Carrie Bradshaw
Carrie, you couldn't be more wrong and, I'm guessing, for you feel the same. If you don't mind I like to reword that quote to read...
"I Like My Money Right Where I Can See It.... In My Savings or Checking"

Thrifting allows me to save on my must haves. Today's DIY UpCycled project, I took a dress and restructured into pants.

Winter Coats

If you love runway fashion as much as I do, you've probably had your eyes peeled for the hottest trends headed towards this harsh winter before anyone else. Designers such as Prabal Gurung, Altuzarra, and the notorious Alexander Wang made winter something excited to look forward to when their thick sweaters, trench coats, bulky scarves, and rich colors marched the runway. Luckily for you, these looks can be done effortlessly without having to spend over ten dollars as opposed to a thousand.

Thrift and vintage shops are a galore for just these looks. Thick, cable knit sweaters are an easy find and can be found in every color and pattern. And don't dare leave the door without a bit of texture. Always feel free to layer materials with different feels to add life and dimension to your look. An amazing thing about your winter vintage finds is that they aren't something you have to hunt for. They're easily accessible, not to mention easy to fit your personal style. So go ahead, pull out your bulky scarves and sweaters in every color you can think of and tackle this winter cold in style.

Mad Hatter

Five panel, messenger, sunhats, fedoras, beanies….There’s so many variations of hats. It seems as if each one is becoming more unique that the next. It’s never the wrong season to wear a hat, which makes them a fashion enthusiast’s best friend. The challenge is deciding which one is the best to wear for the occasion, which doesn’t have to be such a challenge after all. If you’re going for the casual look, a five panel hat or a beanie can be stylish, and still pulled off as relaxed look. Need something a little more dapper? Throw on a messenger hat, or a fedora.

Fashionable Thrift Tip: The most important thing about choosing the perfect hat is remembering that when it comes to what you put on your noggin, opposites attract. If you’re wearing a neutral outfit, try a bright or printed hat. When wearing an outfit with multiple, bold colors, a neutral hat would be the perfect compliment.

Another factor when choosing a hat is proportion. When you’re sporting a loose-fit outfit, a fitted cap is best, and if your outfit hugs your body a bold size hat, such as a sun hat will look incredible. But ultimately, it’s up to you. The possibilities are endless.

So far the fashion found on Lookbook for 2014 has been amazing! I couldn't post all the awesome styles  (That's what Lookbook is for), however, I was able to pull a few of the looks I feel could easily be replicated in a thrift store.

The Hats.

Accessories have always been an important part of a complete wardrobe. These hats are the icing on the cake for the looks below.

The Sweaters.

Thrift stores tend to overflow with oversized sweaters. I know because I own a lot of them. I find the best oversized sweaters in men's section. Not only because it guaranteed to be big/oversized, but their sweaters seem to have the best prints!

The Differences.

It's nothing wrong with getting little funky while thrifting. I love doing different things with clothing. Putting a new spin on something traditional is always fun. I must warn you, your thrifted look may get a little risky, but WHO CARES??? Fashion is all about the risk. I'd rather stand out then fit in!
