PSA: Outlets Do Exist

2/2/2013

I thought I knew all it was to know about thrift stores, but I stand corrected. On my mini holiday vacation to the DMV area, my thrift-ing eyes were exposed to a new type of thrift. This store is beyond better than any average Goodwill or Value Village or any thrift store for that matter. Alright... enough prolonging and dragging my feet... I know you want to know too.  My thrift-ing world will forever be changed by GOODWILL OUTLET. Yes, I said it OUTLET!! I've seen pictures, but I thought it was only one in some random state.  I found two Outlets in Baltimore, MD.
                                             6255 Kenwood Kenwood Ave
                                                  Rosedale, MD 21237

                                                              and

                                                 5620 The Alameda
                                                  Baltimore, MD 21239

Goodwill Outlet takes thrift-ing to a whole new level. They sell the clothes by the pound..... Again, by the pound. That concept blew my mind. At both locations clothes were $1.69 per pound. I found soooo many wonderful things! I spent only $18.24 at the first listed location and $22.40 at the second listed location. That's at least 12 pounds of clothes per outlet. If this isn't thrift-ing HEAVEN, I don't know what is.

WARNING WARNING WARNING:   However, I must warn you, because I wasn't properly warned. I went to the Kenwood Ave Goodwill Outlet first. When I walked in, I was expecting to see racks with clothing. Instead, the clothes are placed in big bins and you literally have to dig and rummage through every bin to find something good. While Goodwill Outlets require a little more work, you are paying by the pound. I think that is a fair trade.

**It hurts my heart to even write this, but Georgia does not have a Goodwill Outlet (insert sad face and tears here). **

If you have one in your area, I encourage you to go. You won't be disappointed!
