What we, The Color Tag, love about her (beside her amazing website) is that she too is a thrifter! The Color Tag is beyond elated to have The Culture Vulture as our FIRST contributing writer! Ladies and gentleman please take notes! "I’m an avid thrifter myself and a total believer in looking chic for a low price. A typical day of thrifting for me consist of label hunting..I have to admit, I’m quite the label collector. My best thrift find thus far has been my white Chanel rain boots. They’re my everything. The more wear and tear I put on them - the more I find myself falling in love with what they represent - a timeless piece of art. With that being said, my favorite trend to accent my favorite piece at the moment is monochromatic styling. I like to style my all white Chanel boots with white demin, a long sleeve button up & my white peacoat. I mean, Coco Chanel herself wore white all year, so why can’t I? If you’re going to break a fashion rule though you must go all out! Therefore, if you’re going to go black - go ALL black from head to toe. If you’re going to go oxblood - go full oxblood down to your socks. My fashion tip for The Color Tag followers is to pick hues that accent their hair color, skin, and eyes ! For instance, I have brown hair, light skin, and dark brown eyes so royal blue, kelly green, and burgundy accents my features well. Let’s take red hair (since this hair color seems to be trending at the moment) - if I were going to go monochromatic *I would chose natural tones to accent my hair color such as camel, military green, beige, or even black. These colors are dull compared to such a statement hair color such as red so it accents it well. An easy way to pull off a monochrome ensemble for the first time would be finding a good fitting blazer, apeplum and skirt of a similar hue, and shoes and a clutch to match. Make sure your tones vary but are close enough to convey your monochromatic look and you’re good to go!" *Definition: Monochromatic (adj) containing or using only one color Want to be a Contributing Writer . . .
